Welcome
Check out new mystery podcast NOW ONLINE!
It’s HERE! My new podcast, “Murder in the Air Mystery Theatre,”is off and running! Sixteen weekly episodes will “drop” on Wednesday mornings through May.
I’ve interviewed mystery, thriller and suspense authors and they — or a professional voice or I — read a segment from their published short stories or books, ala Alfred Hitchcock’s Murder Mystery Magazine podcast. I’m also reading some of my short stories as well as, and sections from my audiobooks will be sprinkled throughout. Here’s where to find them: https://murderintheairmysterytheatre.buzzsprout.com
Season #1 authors include Dennis Palumbo from L.A.; Margaret Morse of Phoenix; Howard Gershkowitz of Chandler; Cheryl Cocroft of Carefree; Charlotte Whitney of Tempe; and Pat Spencer from S. California. The schedule in on my website, down below. Here’s a short trailer: https://youtu.be/1miQgBBL-_g
Meanwhile, the audiobook for “Bleeder” is done, and is not only available on Audible, but also on other major audiobooks sites including Libro.fm https://libro.fm/audiobooks/9798754252653-bleeder and more. I narrated “Bleeder,” and many thanks to Leroy Timblin, Tess Jenkins, Ann Videan, Andrea Beaulieu and David Specht for lending their great voices to the recording session in my home studio for the “podcast” portion of the audiobook. You can purchase the print and ebook Kindle Unlimited versions here: https://tinyurl.com/GetBleeder
I’m tweaking my new manuscript called “Raw Image,” in what will be a new series called “Behind the Lens” mysteries. I’m grateful to my Mystery Critique Group and loyal beta readers who gave me great suggestions, and for positive feedback, including “an intriguing story that I didn’t want to put down.” It’s about a tough freelance television journalist and videographer who covers major crimes and traumatic events, and does her best to expose sex traffickers. “TJ Banks” is kind of a badass women and is great to write. Plus, I am sending her to Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Europe in book #1 which is such fun.
Don’t forget Fade Out, Dead Air and Bleeder in “Behind the Mic Mysteries.” If you’re in the Phoenix area, I’m happy to personalize a book for you or for a gift – email me at Laurie@ReadLaurieFagen.com.
Thanks for all your support!

About my books
Bleeder, the third book in the “Behind the Mic Mysteries,” is the continuing saga of intrepid radio reporter, Lisa Powers, who covers the trial of the cop shooter from the Dead Air book. I get to include details about the lovely mountain town that was my second home for five years. Lisa will also cover a domestic violence case, and the podcast is entitled “Art of the Steal,” about a crime in an art gallery.
I now have audio books for “Fade Out” and “Dead Air” and “Bleeder,” all available on Audible and Amazon. In addition, “Bleeder” will be available in other platforms, including Spotify, Libro.fm, Barnes & Noble, Nook and more. “Fade Out” and “Dead Air” will also be available on those additional platforms in 2023. My son, audio production engineer Devon J. Hancock, handled all the editing and mastering duties, as well as adding sound effects and original music (www.DevonJHancock.com)
If you like crime fiction mysteries, check out the novella “Deadly Misfire,” by Short on Time Books (www.ShortOnTimeBooks.com), which is available on Amazon. It’s the story of a mysterious man who stalks reporter Lisa Powers at a radio convention, and every day ramps up threats against her. She and her co-worker/boyfriend Dean Jeffries fear for her life as tensions build on the final night with an awards presentation for which Lisa is in the running with another reporter from New York, who coincidentally looks similar to Lisa. “Dead Air,“ book #2 in the “Behind the Mic Mysteries,” is available in e-book, print and audio book on Amazon at https://tinyurl.com/BuyDeadAir.
The cold case Lisa works on is a 15-year-old sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl, who is now 19. The young victim has not had any closure all this time, and Lisa is determined to help her find the rapist.
Lisa’s “podcast,” which she writes for fun at night after covering gritty crime stories during the day, is a “film noir” style story of a 1940s private eye and a dame. Only L. N. Pane, P.I. is the dame and the gentleman seeks help finding out why someone is out to kill him.
There are other stories Lisa covers in “Dead Air,” and as well as a new potential love interest for our heroine.
You can hear an interview with me on Golden State Media Concepts, about my books, my background and many other subjects, including my latest novella called “Deadly Misfire,” one of seven stories in a multi-author series called “Tawnee Mountain Mysteries.” Check out the podcast and blog cast at https://t.co/9WfsjTFBYw
